Buying HD 280s Pro

Looks good if they don't overcharge you on shipping. Comp-U-Plus has a five point something on ResellerRatings, which is acceptable for a cheapo online retailer. No promises about service, of course.

@buy.com and amazon.com both of them have the HD 280 Pro for around $100.
Shipping @Comp-U-Plus is around 15$ which destroys the deal. Any other good deals out there or am I stuck with 99$?

Wouldn't $15 shipping bring the price to ~$85? 😕

Anyway, I always check bizrate & froogle for the best prices, then resellerratings to make sure I'm not buying from a crap company.

And yes I was said99$ because nearly all of the deals I can find are 99$. I guess I should of said "or are the other deals out there only 99$?"

You helped me out. Mine actually shipped and I should receive it any day now. With processing and shipping fee it was $65. I think the $55 people got canceled.

As for hd497, it's good for the price but I think PX100 portable sound better. I'm looking forward to trying out HD280 pro.

when did you test the497? i gotta disagree, the px100 is no where near the 497 in quality. i'm sure theres a consensus on this. that and the px100's are overpriced for what you get.
 
I own HD497 and PX100. It's just my opinion and that of my friends. I'm just casual listener but PX100 sounds better with more bass and punch. HD497 while good sounds little dry and less of a punch. Kind of hard to describe. But that's just my personal observation.

I don't think PX100 is overpriced for what you get. Build quality is excellent and it's comfortable portable phones. HD497 has excellent build quality as well but is not really portable.

Actually, there is no consensus on which is better. The Head-Fi community seems fairly evenly split, and it looks like another "different but equal" situation. The PX100 is an excellent value if you like its sound signature, and many people do.
 
Received my HD280pro from ECost today. Really really nice. It's my first closed phones and I really dig it. Great build quality as usual and I like the fact it folds for compact storage. Cord is kind of short but it stretches so it's not a big deal. No problem with comfort and it fits my head perfectly. Blocks out almost all noise which is really nice. I don't know if it's the closed aspect or it's just better phones but music sounds better than my PX100 and HD497. Really happy with the purchase as it's a steal for $65 shipped. I'll be using these phones for my theater receiver. Highly recommend these.
