antec 300 is limited to 11"/279mm long cards without mods. Go MSI R9 290 Gaming, other cards are too long (I checked XFX DD, Asus, Gigabyte and Sapphire, all were over 11")

I'm wondering why you're using an old budget case for a new high budget rig?

What screen resolution do you game at? What games do you play?

1280x1024

Currently only play dota. A little sc2, but sc2 is slow even with low-medium settings

To answer other post, I wasn't trying to spend more money on unnecessary items. I was upgrading from an old rig

Im so used to the small square screen instead of a wider one lol.

I was thinking of playing other games, maybe bf4 or something as well... thats why I wanted a high end gpu.

Ditto. But for situations like this I just made a table which I give to my friends who keep asking me which graphics card to buy. lol. Helps me narrow down which to recommend.

Since he plays on a 1280x1024 monitor, a Radeon R7 270X will be extremely fast (everything maxed out) and provide enough headroom if he upgrades to 1080p. Personally, if it was me and if I don't plan on upgrading from 1280x1024 anytime soon I'd go with something like a Radeon HD 7790 from bargain bins if it's still available.

with those resolution and games, you can easily get away with getting just a gtx 460 ti

Oh wow, R9 290 would be absolutely ridiculously overkill for 1280x1024. I would get an R9 270 at most unless you can upgrade the monitor. Are you sure you don't have enough space for a standard 22-24" 1080p monitor?

Obviously, and that's the problem.

R9 290 is high end for 1080p, so the corresponding high end for 1280x1024 would be a card with a bit more than half its performance (since the resolution is a bit more than half of 1080p).

Monitor sounds kind of old. What if it breaks down? Might have to week of a card for modern one if you go too far down the food chain....Something to consider.

Any purchase here that doesn't involve part of your costs being a 1080p 22-24" monitor seems like a bad idea.

^hmm good points, I will consider a 1080p monitor. I think i can fit 22''.

So a 280 + 1080p monitor

Any1 have recommendations on monitors?
I have never purchased one

Maybe would help if you list your requirements.

Budget

Size....Keep in mind a 23" may have a smaller footprint than 22" as bezels differ in size.

Preference for color reproduction, viewing angle, or response rate, etc.

Seeing your current one is so old (based on res) I'd say just about anything will be better.

I'd go for an upgraded monitor before anything else. After that it would depend on my budget, either a 280 or a 290 if you plan on playing bf4 or other demanding games. If it's just dota2 and sc2 then something around a 265/750ti.

Probably budget around 100-150? I do not want to spend too much. I would love high response rate

My bad....I meant response time which you'd want lower, refresh you'd want higher but it's out of your budget range it looks like.

Did you measure to see how large of a monitor you can fit in your space?

This Asus one seems reasonably priced after promo code and rebate. Should be decent for the money if the size and white would work for you.

Low response time and should have the same low input lag it's black sibling has.

Asus looks to have one of the better warranties as it includes shipping both ways....If needed

Do you have a picture of the desk? Link?

Seems like a small area for a monitor. It's boxed in?
