J and R is legit

Probably one of the more reliable companies out there.
They have a huge store near city hall in NYC.

I bought AR surround speakers from them and they are *Monty Burns* excellent.

Legit - I've never bought anything from the online store but have purchased some computer equipment from their B&M at city hall.

Yeah, they're pretty well known. I've ordered from them and used to get their catalog for a while.

Legit. Amazon even uses them to sell some electronic stuff. I got the iPod FM transmitter from them.

They started as B&M, then mail order, and then the internet...

I've bought stuff from them for over a decade, never a bad experience, never even a bad product.

Shipping is a little steep, and their prices aren't really great, but I use them occasionally still.

Shipping seemed reasonable ($5 to FedEx ground a digicam from NY to Indiana), and I told the rep that I found a lower price at another site and he cut me a deal on my new camera (canon s50) and a 256MB CF card. :) I'm happy.

My Experience: They're OK. Good store, but if you ever talk to their customer support on the phone they are rude and treat you like a dumb sh!t.

They are a legit company and have bought some items from them. Customer service seems to be hit and miss but on higher priced items, they will negotiate with you (down from the retail price of course).

I had the same experience with their customer service trying to negotiate. Kind of a bizarre thing to thing to hear them ask if I'd reconsider cancelling my order (they were temporarily out of stock and I'd found another place that wasn't) if they knocked some off the price. I laughed and asked how much, but it was only five bucks. FWIW...

I bought stuff from their B&M many times. They're legit. If you are buying a digiCam, you may want to check B&H (www.bhphotovideo.com). They are also legit, and their prices are not terrible. And they have a really cool store :).

I shop for my video gear, but I always forget about them when it comes to "consumer" type purchases. Their price for the s50 is the cheapest I've seen for a respectable retailer, but the deal I cut w/JandR for an s50 and memory was better. Not buy much though.
