Hello,
I only have a radio shack near me (hate it) and I need to buy some basic electronic parts and equipment. However, a bunch of the places I found online charge way to much for shipping. Any suggestions that have good prices and fair shipping?

Thanks a lot.

My two favorite electronic parts shops are Digikey and Mouser. Digikey doesn't always have the best selection of stuff, but they have great prices, and Mouser seems to have generally better parts for audio.

Another vote for Digikey and Mouser. Note that Digikey does have a $25 minimum, that if you don't go over you end up paying a processing fee ($5 iirc). Mouser's better for one or two part buys.

If I need something specific, I get it from either digikey, mouser, or newark. If I just need a random switch or something like that, I get it from jameco.

They still do here, just at 4 times the cost of other places.

..Amateur Electronic Supply (AES) is a good place for electronic project stuff and test equipment.

Yeah but in the back they used to sell capacitors, resistors, breadboards, powers supplies and various books on building electronic devices. They removed most of that stuff now....

Mouser gets my vote.
Used them for years.
They also have a very nice support department.
If there is a part you need and you don't see it in the catalog, give them a call.
They will research the part you are looking for and see if they can find a supplier, all for free.
It doesn't matter if the part is 5 cents or 500 dollars , they give the same service.

Mouser has always done me right.

They even sent hard copy of their telephone book sized catalog without me specifically requesting it.
