Hi Guys

I have a few questions, I wish to go to 8GB but I am thinking of the following from the vender OCUK

Before I show you what I'm looking a few questions

1. Does going to 8GB cause my overclock on my CPU to be become more difficult?

Which to go for :

1. Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX6400D2K2/4G) (x2)

2. OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK) (x2)

3.OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR800C44GK) )x2)

Thanks Guys

If those are your only choices I'd go with the Kingston, I have had bad experiences with OCZ memory and the reviews tend to be littered with problem comments also.

Best memory makers out there are Crucial, Mushkin and G.Skill. Corsair isn't bad either.

Having all four memory slots filled does sometimes reduce the amount you can overclock your processor. You may have to run looser timings and may not be able to overclock four sticks as high as two (assuming you're pushing your memory speed above DDR2-800).

Don't really like any of those choices, but if you're sticking with your Q6600, you don't need high end DDR2 either.

Can you get Mushkin anywhere else?

The Reapers won't work because of their stupid heatspreaders (you can't fit in adjoining slots).
The other OCZ you linked to scares me as 2x2 GB @ very loose 5-5-5-18 2.1-2.2v sounds craptacular. You should only need 1.8v for those timings at that speed...

The Kingston likely doesn't use PSC, which means it's going to be crap for OCing..though you don't really need anything more than DDR2-800, i know. I'm not familiar with Kingston's kit as few enthusiasts tend to buy them.

I'd say this is a decent deal: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...00C5%20TwinX%20(2x2GB)

This is good, but it's a lot more: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...%20(F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ)

As for your mobo, there's no problem with running 8 GB, even OCed a lot; P5Q-D is a solid mobo.

And that cannot be said for many other boards when it comes to 8 GB.
