Buying CPU/mobo on ebay?

Just wondering what the general consensus is around here on this topic. I'm planning on getting an AMD 64 3200+ and the Asus K8V mobo. It looks like a lot of people are selling their bundles on ebay and they're going for around $300. That would save me some cash opposed to newegg. Anyone else usually go this route, or is it worth it to spend the extra cash and go with a reputable dealer?

I wasn't sure if this topic should go here or in the CPU section....sorry if it's the wrong spot.

You'll help yourself out by buying from a seller with many & high ratings.
I like ebay for some things. But for a CPU/MB combo, I'd buy from members in the For Sale/Trade forum.

You'd be better off getting a refurb mobo from newegg than trusting eBay -- even if the seller has 10,000 positives who knows what customer service you'll get if there is a problem and you need to return it. That's a huge gamble on a $300+ purchase.

Though I don't really recommend refurbs either since they can be missing drivers, cables, the metal plate I/O shields, and might have concealed damage from mis-handling.

Best is to spend a little extra and buy the combo new from newegg.
