Anyone have experience buying carpet remnants?

Looking to buy a single piece to lay down as a pseudo area rug for a 12?25 foot den. I took up the previous carpet after having a cat go bad and a new puppy doing some chewing. I plan on redoing the entire house once the market corrects a little more to sell and buy a new one, but don't want to do so yet.

Where would be the best place to look; carpet store, furniture store, home wharehouse place?

What was under the previous carpet? Old hardwood, or the subfloor?

Lowes, Home Depot seem to have them cheap, carpet stores have them too but sometimes seem to be almost expensive as ordering off the roll.

around here we have a store call Mr. Seconds that deal in closeouts, end of run products and you can get remnants dirt cheap.

The den is on the bottom floor and sits right on the slab.

we've got some place called ollies near us and they have in their current ad remnant sections for $.61/foot, how does that price compare?

I measured the room to get actual readings and it came to 13.4*19.6. The longest width they have though is only 12. I'm just laying this down without padding, and thinking without anything to hold it I should probably just go with having about 9 inches bare on either side than being fancy and trying to lay 2 sections down.

All depends on the quality of the carpet. Look for a good nylon if you want something that lasts.

I was at Lowes a couple weeks ago and saw a 10x12 remnant for $75.
