Buying camcorder

I receive some best buy gift cards.. so I figure I go buy something I dont have.. they have some basic 250 camcorders and some 400+ one with ilink or usb. Should I even consider those type of camcorder ? I'm assuming if I get firewire, I can some how transfer everything over ? Any clue ?

Why not! I am thinking of getting a $350-400 DV camera myself. They usually have firewire so you need to get a firewire card (or IEEE13??) <-- dont remember the number.

it seems that everyone sells sony at retail price.. almost no discounts.... thanks for the bump..

the cheapest sony is at 499 with ilink.. w/o is 299..

you can always find coupons for staples/office depot/etc to help you with your purchase
