Buying budget gaming PC! Need advice

Hey everyone, I plan on buying a new gaming PC in the next few days and was hoping to get some advice.

The games I will be playing are WoW and Mortal Online. I'd like to be able to play them on high settings without any latency/lag.

Here is the list of PC's I'm currently looking at. If you know of any better deals out there at the moment please let me know!

Velocity Micro Z5 - $750

Velocity Micro Z30 - $850 ($200 off)
http://www.velocitymicro.com/wizard.php?iid=186

iBUYPOWER Gamer Power 568Q6 Gaming PC - $800

SYX BlackOps PC - ($800)

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...9&Sku=SYX-1074

SYX OSG-2 Gaming PC - ($600)

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...0&Sku=SYX-1060

The two that stand out for me at the moment are highlighted in green font. The Z30 has the i5 and really good reviews but the 568Q6 has a much better graphics card from what I can tell. Any help deciding would be much appreciated!

Build one yourself

Hey Bman, I don't feel computer savvy enough to build one myself unfortunately:thumbsdown:. I'm hoping to get a fairly good prebuilt computer at a reasonable price.

So after more researching and looking for deals I've come across this PC that seems to be a beast. It is refurbished which is why it is at a great price (I think). What do you guys think?

^What he said

Build one. You should be able to get plenty of help from the people here.

I'm really looking for something that is prebuilt. Plug it in and play without any headaches. Anyone have any advice on the PC's I've listed? Any feedback about them would be appreciated!

Are you buying in the US or Canada? You've linked .com and .ca.

The only two that you've linked that I would even consider "gaming PCs" are the SYX BlackOps and the iBUYPOWER. Of those, I would get the BlackOps because it has a 6850.

For future reference, any GPU with a "3" as the second digit is generally not a gaming card.

You could definitely build one yourself cheaper...use your old computer case...ect... save a few bucks here and there.

I can buy from either or. I would rather buy in Canada to avoid paying duties/taxes but may buy in the US if I can get free shipping.

I bought my old computer off a friend for $40 so I'm looking to just scrap it and start fresh. I'd like a PC that is a fairly good bang for its buck that has room for upgrading down the road. I figure this way I can learn here and there by upgrading parts gradually instead of trying to build a new PC from scratch. How do you guys find the Black Ops PC compares to other PCs on the market for that price range? I figure I can sell the game as well and get $50 back or so.

Thanks for all the replies thus far!

So since many of you have been saying I'm better off building my own I decided I would at least look into it and give the thought a chance. I'm currently reading up and trying to learn as much as I can. I've come across this build that seems fairly good and is cheaper. I'm not sure how it stacks up against the Black Ops PC though? I would also need Windows 7 which would be another $100. So I'm looking to spend around $700 to build this PC compared to $800 for the Black Ops PC w/ the game included.

When I click on the motherboard, it says that it is unavailable. Other than the mobo, the rest of the build looks fine.

I'm partial to Gigabyte boards myself. But a 785G is fine, as long as you don't plan on Crossfire down the road.

Also, did anyone get a chance to check out the PC I posted separately? How does it compare to the black ops PC?

Yes, I did, and yes it sucks compared to the Black OPs one. The #1 most important thing is the GPU. 6850 > 5750

That GPU is far too weak to be included in a gaming PC. You should be looking at a 5770 minimum.

Thanks for all the help guys. After doing more and more reading.. I think I'm going to attempt to build my own (with all of your help I hope). Here is what I've got so far. Let me know what you think. I'm pretty sure everything is compatible however I am not 100% on the RAM. Am I missing anything?

Computer Case:
Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Hard Drive:
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Mobo:
ECS Black Series A785GM-M AM3 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

GPU:
SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100283VX-2L Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support ...

Power Supp:
OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

RAM (4GB):
WINTEC AMPX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 3AXH1333C9WS4GK

CPU:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX

$809 CAD shipped to my door with $75 mail in rebates making total price $734.

What do you think? Be harsh! This is my first attempt at a build so I'm sure I am missing a few things.

You can do a lot better. I wouldn't trust WINTEC or ECS.. The CPU & Case is fine.

Try something like this;

G.SKILL 4 gb - $51
ASUS M4A77TD - $80
SeaSonic 520W - 70$
Asus GTX460 - $203
Samsung F3 1TB - $75

With CPU & Case you listed it comes to $713.44 that's without shipping and without counting rebates. I believe you also need a optical drive.. so that's another $15-20.

Thanks for the input. I've made the changes you suggested. I also upgraded my CPU to the Phenom 970 which is the same price at the moment as the 965.
