Buying beer when there are a dozen cops in the parking lot.

I almost passed on it and just picked up a couple of sodas, but I am tired and wanted a beer or two tonight.

I once did pass in a similar situation a few months ago getting home about 11pm (I had a couple beers with the guys eariler). The guy that was leaving as I went when, had a 12 pack and got in his car, was stopped before he left the parking lot. As I opened the beer cooler I saw all the lights in the parking lot, and journeyed to the 2L cokes and picked up a couple ice creams 😉.

I don't know if he was guilty or not, but they had him doing tests as I passed by. They had his 12 pack next to him.

As I was leaving tonight I felt all their eyes on me. One did follow me for a bit then sped up fast, turned on his lights and turned at the next block. I just kept it cool...but I think it was messed up.

cops do that around here also. but no big deal if you are sober and have the beer in the trunk.

I just always put the beer in the back seat. But then, I have a four-door so it's more obvious that I'm not going to be pulling it out of the bag as soon as I get in. Besides, I wait until I get home to drink it anyway.

Are you 21? Then screw them and buy the damn beer. If you have it in a bag and you put the bag in the trunk, there is NO probable cause to have you do any tests and if you're driving home and don't have it within reach, there's ZERO cause to stop you and do the sobriety tests. MOST of the time, if they have you out of the car doing the test, you'll be getting in theirs in just a few minutes.

WELLlllll, They COULD TOO, It just wouldn't be legal. Besides, it's a citizens word against a cops anyway. NO JUDGE would ever defer to a citizen. Sets a BAD precedent. That's why cops LIE and get away with it.

 
IIRC, Texas will allow you to drive with an open container in the car, as long as you aren't drinking from it.
That law may have been repealed, though.

Ok, and I COULD shoot random people walking down the street, but I don't. Taking an adult's unopened alcohol would be stealing, plain and simple.

I remember wheni was younger (like 10 so 20 years ago) we were in either Arizona, NM or TExas. But we stoped at a bar that had a drive though! my dad gota beer with a straw! for some reason that just stuck in my head all these years heh
 
to alot above, I have one DUI...I think it was my ex just trying to harass me.

On the same day I ran into a shelf that split my lower lip clean through practically.

I came home that night late, had 4 beers at a piano bar/comedy ... did a bunch of tests on the middle line of a busy street, said the alphabet backwards, then got arrested. My blow was .168...like downing a case.

anyway she did pick me up the next day...
