Buying an open box motherboard from newegg a good idea?

I personally wouldn't, as I am currently waiting for my second motherboard from rma from Asus. I see the importance of a warranty, and a motherboard is an integral and expensive (in many cases) part of a system.

No.... You are not going to know if you get the box, the manual, the drivers, cables, back-plate/EM shield, etc., etc., etc. Basically, all they say they have to give you is the board itself, nothing else, and you don't get the full manufacturer's warranty, just the newegg 15 days.... NOT worth it to me for that alone.

You are going to want the accessories.... and the warranty is huge... you can do a lot of extreme tweaking in three years... a long time... a load of tiny traces.

I have bought refurbished (asus a8n sli dlx) from newegg before and what they say is true, may not get the full package, just the board, BUT if you contact the manufacturer, like i did with the asus, they probobly will send you the important stuff like the EMI shield and such. Just make sure it works as soon as you get it.
