For months I was pretty sure I was going to upgrade my new pc and get Vista and a DX10 card within the next couple years... looking at the prices and performence so far it doesn't seem worthwhile

So screw that.. I plan on buying a Wii, second controller, and 2 games for the same price:)

Would there be any way for me to hook up my monitor and speakers to it?

unfortunately, i think it was stated that the wii cant hook up to a monitor via vga/dvi. it can only be done through composite/component/s-video. it does support dolby surround pro logic II, but only through the red/white audio cables. no digital connections! darn you nintendo!

And Dolby is out of the question unless it ends up on W00T in which case it will sell out in 2 minutes

The forums are all screwed up - it just logged me in as someone else as well under the "Performance bottleneck" thread.

To do what you want with the Wii, you'd need a component to VGA adapter if I'm not mistaken, and then you'd be able to output in 480p to your monitor.

Here we go

"""""""""
Input: four Wii Remote controllers can communicate with Wii, which features a bay for an SD memory card

Output: an AV Multi-output port for component, composite or S-video
"""""""""

I still don't understand what I need but hopefully this will helpy ou guys out

In all honesty, I wouldn't get anything until you have the Wii in your hands, since who knows what sort of cables the system will accept. You may not even have to worry about this since Nintendo often puts out its own cables for you in these situations.

My suggestion is more theory than practice at this point - no one's really sure, outside of SDTV and component output, of what the Wii is capable of outputting.

Maybe you'll understand if you know what the cables are like...

Composite = yellow RCA video cable https://www.cablesforless.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=808
S-video = s-video cable... uhhh... https://www.cablesforless.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=818
Component = Three RCA video cables (green / blue / red) https://www.cablesforless.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=781

None of these will hook into a regular computer monitor.

Some monitors have inputs for these types though. My 2007FP has composite and s-video as inputs.

Uhhhh... Dolby can't sell out on W00T since it's not a product ;)

But anyway... to hook up those x-230s, you'll just need an adapter
