Buying a used Sprint cell phone..

Is there any information I should get from a seller of a phone to make sure it can be activated? My sister says I should get a serial number and verify that it's not a stolen phone? Any other tips?

Not really familiar with CDMA phones myself, might want to call a sprint store tomorrow and ask.

When my friend bought a phone from a guy of craigslist he brought me as muscle to make sure we weren't getting hustled. That phone ended up breaking and he got a replacement from Cingular.

Get the ESN and call Sprint. Ask them to check if its clear (ie no money is owed it, lost, stolen, etc.)

I did this with the phones I wanted to sell on eBay, to make sure whoever bought them didn't have any problems activiating. Actually went into the store, but either way..
