If the mechanic says its ok go for it. My first car was a 1992 ES300 which I sold at 120K, and my current is a 2000 ES300 at about 92K. Both have been very reliable.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, IF there's nothing wrong with it. Get a mechanic's inspection.

It's automatic, though...which kind of sucks.

Check the transmission, my 92 gave out around 98k. As for the timing belt, maybe the previous owner was overly cautious (which is good), Lexus usually recommends a change at 90K. Also check if they did the water pump when they did the belt...

pooor deal
age is age. lexus isn't a miracle machine.
many things are worn out on a car that old, many things are about to need work/replacement
get a newer lower model car for your money.

low for a diesel perhaps.

Low for a Lexus, there's a saying on Clublexus, under 100k miles your Lexus is still in the break in stage. I'd say most SC300/400 owners around 200k are still doing fine and those that have 300-500k usually haven't had an engine replacement yet because they're still chugging along. #1 in long term reliability 13 years in a row and having had that ranking/honor in every JDpower Vehicle Dependability Survey for every year but one since the brand's inception speaks volumes about it.

Besides most cars can do 100k easily with decent maintainence and a non abusive driver. There are exceptions to the rule like say a Neon, but for the most part modern cars are fairly durable/reliable.
