Buying a used ipad....

What to look out for?
I know buying used phones for Verizon and Sprint needs caution due to people selling blacklisted phones, but is there anything similar in Apple land?
Meaning, I don't want to buy a stolen ipad, try to activate it with itunes and then find out I can't because it's been reported as stolen.
BTW-I am getting a wifi model and not 3g.
I plan on using a phone for a wifi hotspot if needed.
thanks Apple guys.

It should be fine, just check the case for dents, if it's had a rough life it'll have dents in it.

Since it's less than a year old, it will still be under warranty so no real problems with buying a used one.

Honestly, wouldnt a wi-fi only device not have problems with blacklists? Even if it WAS stolen, there isnt anything to activate on a network so how would anyone know? Unless the device somehow communicates just via the internet when in use, that i'm not sure of, but as far as wireless service on 3g it wouldnt be an issue.

mobileme can track stolen devices and terminate them. or call the police on you.

so yeah i'd run it by apple.

you realize all apple products leak your privacy.location.etc like a sieve.

jailbreaking gives you some options to hide your location and identity if you value your privacy. werd.

I think I will call Apple. I know that seems stupid to post about the questions before actually trying anything on my own...but I will share the results here.
