buying a used cd-rom drive

i am buying back an 8x dvdrom drive from my friend that i sold to him a year ago or so..

i know it works, cause i used to own it, lol


he's giving it back to me for $15 cause i just want a cheap dvddrive


my question: is 8x fast enough to read dvds w/o any skipping or voice lag?

DVDs are played at 1X on DVD drives. The "8X" part is for reading data DVDs (and ripping). How could there be any "voice-lag", whatever that is?
