I was looking for buy a BFG 6800 on the for sale forum. When I checked out BFG's warranty. it's only for the original buyer. What info do they require when you have to RMA a card?

I've heard differently. I asked that question in an older BFG thread here and received a reply that if you own a BFG card, you receive the warranty. No proof of purchase is required since you obviously have the card in your possession. It has been my experience that somewhere along the line, I needed that receipt of sale for other cards I've RMA'd, so I'm not sure what to believe at this point.

I sold my BFG TI4600 to someone and unfortunanately it died a few weeks after he got it. He was able to RMA it back to BFG without a problem. They only want the serial number.

I think if you just refrain from saying "I bought this video card off the Internet from some one ..." then you will be fine. Whether or not this conflicts with your personal ethics is up to you.

I just recently had to RMA my BFG Ti4200. The fellow on the phone (You have to phone them for an RMA) asked when/where I bought it and after that gave me instructions on how to package it and the address to send it. There was never any mention of the receipt of sale.

I'd agree with Duster, as long as you don't go shooting yourself in the foot on the phone with customer service, I doubt you'd have any problem.

I've rma'd a bfg card in the past. They asked if I had my receipt, but had no probs when I said no. Was cool too, as I got a 5900 ultra for my vanilla 5900. Was quick too!

edit: and no, I wasn't the original owner.

They never asked me anything like that, just what model the card was and where to send it in.

Agreed, I had to RMA my 6800GT to them, I even asked if they wanted me to send in my receipt or my proof of purchase to them with the card, they said it wasn't necessary. to BFG
