Q1: Would a dealership, other then the one selling it, check over a car you dont own yet for free?

Scenario: Used Car at used dealership, take it to the manufactors dealership for a check up? Free? Charge how much? Reliable? Would used dealer allow it?

Q2: Sports/low prof. tires only last 20k? OR was it really driven hard?

Q3: 2006 with 20k, feasible or questionable? Especially in Metro. Area.

TIA, new to used car shopping.

Used dealer will allow it. If they don't, don't use them. Manufacturer will of course charge at typical labor rates.

Of course a 2006 with 20k is reasonable. How is it not?

It wouldn't hurt to run a carfax to determine if it was in any accidents and how many times the car went to dealer for service.

carfax is alright, but some people are just cheap and do not bring it to teh dealer once it leaves the lot. I can't say that I blame any person for doing that. After all, dealerships charge $150 do some service that another service place would charge $50 for the same exact thing. Whether or not servicing your car at those cheaper places is good is a whole different argument, though.

If not another dealer to check it out, an independent mechanic should do it for a reasonable amount ($50-$100).

As for tires, if they are indeed true high performance tires, 10k-20k is the norm. Some of the "mid performance" will get around 30k. Basic all seasons will last upwards of 50k.

Of course driving styles can greatly impact wear.
