Buying a UPS, do I need AVR?

I remember hearing it was important, but for the life of me can't figure out what it actually does. Can anyone point me in the right direction, or clue me in about whether I need it?
 
AVR=Automatic Voltage Regulation

You don't NEED. However, it helps take the highs and lows out of the line so your power is cleaner. Cleaner power will help your equipment last longer.

If given a choice between a unit with it or a unit without it, I'd take it if the dollar difference tolerable.
