Buying a TV from Amazon.com...NEED HELP FAST!

Hi, i only got $1400 for my store card from amazon.com. I am buying a TV that is $1511. I asked the rep at amazon what to do, and she said to buy a gift card, pay off as much as you want until you can use your CC, and then get the rest with your store card. She said that this will allow you to keep the 24months 0% financing. Does this ACTUALLY work?

I understand that you want the 0% financing, but can you not afford to pay the $111 out of pocket without financing it first?

You're not getting anything out of it by financing the gift card and paying off the credit card (even at 0% interest). You're just delaying the date that you purchase the TV.

well im scared that if i use a traditional debit card it wont work; she only mentioned the gift card...so i have no idea.

Why would you speand $1500 for a tv. Unless its 65". But if its anywhere between 42-50ish your paying to much.

er, i'm not interested in what people think about the TV i am buying; i researched it tons (with the help of a lot of people here) and am getting an amazing tv for a great price. back to the op please.

I don't want another credit check, and she said this works. she also said GE money is one of the most conservative banks, and because the economy is sucking right now companies are giving crappy credit limits.

Well in that case I'd email them with the same question. That way if what she said is correct, at least you'll have it in writing just in case of any issues which may arise.

i wish i would have waited in buying a larger TV. i got a DLP (great HD picture) but the cost of LCD's have droped so much in the last 6 months. well nto so much as droped but the tv's out are so much better then they were a year ago (when i got my tv)

I got my TV from Amazon with the same financing deal (46" Samsung as well).

My credit limit was also below what the TV cost, so I simply called to get a limit increase and they did it within a few days. This was in December. The TV was $1499, the limit they gave was $1200. They increased it to $1600.

Amazon rocks - be sure to check their site every day for the next 30 days to make sure the price doesn't go down. If it does, just drop them an email and they'll refund you the difference no questions asked.

Awesome, thanks again guys. The 46" would be a bit nicer, but i dont have a huge room, and its really only for me, so 40" is quite large (maybe even too big). If i bought one for the living room, the 46" or the 52" would definitely be my choice. I looked at it a lot at Frys.

Good luck with all your tvs, and if anyone else finds this "trick" useful that'd be cool. Reason i didn't ask for a limit increase was because too many credit checks is bad, and i've done too many in the last couple days

The policy is one credit card per transaction. Buying a gift card ahead of time was a perfect idea.
