If your looking for unmanaged switches I've had good luck with Dlink. I'm sure Netgear will work just fine for a simple network.

If your looking for Layer 2 the sky is the limit really.

You could spend $800 on a Dlink
or you could go all the way and spend $6K on cisco

Obviously lots of solutions inbetween.

The next question is what are you looking to do with it?

Unmanaged regular switch?

Buy it according to the décor.

If you're interested check out old HP 4000Ms on eBay. Some of the 72-port switches go for around $100. :D

Otherwise I would check out some of Dell or HP's lower end offerings.

What is your budget? Do you need any L3 routing capabilities? Per-port access-control? 802.1x? Manageability?

If you can get buy with a 12 port switch. I'd get the Cisco 2950.

Oh look, I just happen to have one for sale... ;)
