buying a Scooter

dude get the Honda Elite. They're selling for $2500 (from $3k msrp) and have a huge amount of room, fuel injected, liquid cooled, and extremely capable of doing 50+mph

just wanna chime in (for any searchers) and say I bought one of these over the weekend - 2010 honda elite, 110cc.

thing must be made of technology cuz it pulls like a goat. max speed of 52mph, pulls from 0 all the way up to 45 w/o any issue whatesoever, feels like it has more when I hit max speed (which basically tells me it's electronically limited). No slowness when going up normal hills either. Definitely feels more than capable of 2-up urban riding.

massive, massive underseat storage and 90-110mpg to boot.

definitely recommend.

Protip: never, ever, ever buy a 50cc scooter unless you don't have to go on public roads with it.

my issue with scooters is that in the city, they can reach the same speed as my 140hp ninja1000, but don't have nearly the regulation that my motorcycle carries. at least the 50cc ones anyway.

"The regulation"?

Let me tell yah, there is no fucking way a 50cc can reach the same speed unless we're talking <35mph speed limits (and we all
Know how good drivers are at following that...)

Those scooters are lethal to the environment... Sure, low on CO2 emissions, crazy fucking high on everything else. Compare it prius emissions and you're basically the worlds largest asshole. You make villains in Captain Planet look like they're just littering a few pieces of paper.

Earth first! We'll destroy the other planets later.

90-110mpg, don't give a fuck.

I also own a Prius to hedge my eco asshole-ness

No care.

This is like telling me that you own a Prius but still pour toxic sludge into fresh water rivers anyway.

"Hey guys, I commit murder, but I still pay my taxes and even donate to charity!"

no licensing, no insurance, no safety requirements of any kind.

i consider that a little unfair since i get absolutely assraped by insurance.

*shrug* My Metro can haul my 220lb ass up to almost 45mph. I modded the intake and exhaust a little, though, and re-jetted the carb. I have no trouble taking it on 15+ mile trips in town. There really aren't very many places where the limit is over 45.

Mind if I asked what the 2010 Elite set you back?

Yeah I was gonna start modding the metro but it was way cheaper to just buy a new scooter

2k, practically brand new @900 miles

Can't believe it's been 6 months since I've bought the Elite
Can't believe I started off with a 50cc scooter :awe:
