Okay, well it's no nissan, but it still a damn nice car and after test driving one, I, and more importantly, my g/f really like the scion Tc and will probably be buying one in late decemember.

can anyone tell me about thier experiences buying a scion. they're a no haggle company when it comes to prices, right? So we're stuck paying the sticker price--- or can we still try to work things in our favor. ( I remember when looking at saturns a long time ago, you couldnt haggle with prices, but could often get them to reduce the price of various options)

anyway - it looks right now like it will be about 17,500 sticker price. order the car in decemeber and hopefully it will arrive in late jan / early feb.

any advice from anybody welcome.

p.s. whats up with the toyota's financing rates -- the best rate they've got going is 5.9% from what i saw at the dealership. thats with great credit too. Looks like we'll be looking elsewhere for a loan.

I sat in one the other day and was very impressed, seemed like a very solid car. My only gripe was my head was fairly close to the roof in the front seat and my head was firmly pressed up against the roof in the back :(

And AFAIK, its a one price deal... All the dealerships have the same price and not much room (if any) to haggle on the prices.... I may be mistaken though.

My friend seems to think that ALL dealers, even scion and saturn, will take offers and cut price, depending on the market of course. Every dealership has to keep up sales and when no one is bitiing, they will take a cut.

I want to buy one. :D

Are you buying her the car, or is she paying for it herself? I know its a little off topic, but I was curious.

YOu can walk away from the deal at any time, no pressure what so ever. Theyt don't try to get you to load options on, it's pressure free.

we are expecting to wait at least a month.

never having ordered a car before-- how exactly does that work -- will we have to secure a loan and fill out all the paperwork at the time we order the car, or wait until the car arrives to worry about that stuff.

Amanda, you should look at them if you're in the market for a new car. They've very nice.

Well, I'm not in the market for a new car now, I just want one. If I buy one, I'll buy it used. :)

I didn't have to have the loan ready when I ordered. Toyota offered me crappy rates, so I decided to finanace through USAA. When I ordered the car, I put down a $1k deposit and just wait until it gets there. Once the car is at the dealership, you will go sign the bill of sale papers, etc.

awesome.
So how do you like your Xb? pretty nice car? I'm kinda surprised that the Tc isn't quiet as custimizeable as the Xb is. (as far light colors / steering wheel / etc) it makes up for it with all the standard features though.

Yeah - I still love it. I've only had one problem - the rear skirts ripped off when I went through a puddle, but my dealership is replacing the parts. Since the car is made in Japan, parts take some time to get here.

Just get an offer from one dealership, call up another the day you're ready to buy and say if you can beat their offer decently, you'll drive over and pay for it. Put a little pressure on them :p

Won't work - the only offer you'll get on the Scion cars is MSRP.

won't work, they are budging on the prices b/c the car is selling like hot cakes. For the prices it's already a great deal. To get the same options in a mazda3, it's close to $20k.

I would never pay $17k for that car.

For $15,500 I can get a nicely loaded new 2005 Toyota Corolla LE automatic.

tC > Corolla. More grunt from the engine, faster, better looking, better handling, loads of features, full-length moonroof, 17" wheels, etc, etc.

Bottom line, the two don't even compete with each other anyway.

hmmm.. we looked at corolla's, and to get it equipped similar to the Tc (side airbags / sunroof / etc..) it ended up being 17k. So for the same price I think that the Scion, with the bigger engine and more unique styling is just a better deal.. and an overall nicer car. (after having driven and compared both head to head)

while it is in no way an 'exciting car' to drive.... it is way better than the corolla.... And with the all the TRD parts on the way- tons of potential without voiding the warranty. not sure my g/f will go for those though. :(

I've been looking at this as one of my new car options.

I think I'm just going to save up for the Subaru Impreza for a little bit more.

so did they fix the hatchback rattling and panoramic sunroof glass popping problems?
Those problems being reported by every other tc owner stopped me from getting it.
