Buying a refurbed PS3..

I'd stay away from any PS3 aside from the newest one that has a 45/40nm CPU and GPU.
I, Personally would wait until they have the CPU and GPU on the same die and at 32nm. (Not sure if this is planned but it might happen.)

Why? The PS3 has never had the reliability issues of the 360.

Sure, 4-year-old PS3s are starting to wear out and die (though mine seems fine), but it hasn't been anything like the massive failure rate of the first few 360 models.

I've had 2 60gb launch PS3's and never had a problem with either one. On the other hand 2 of my 360's have crapped out on me, out of 4.

I'm not saying that PS3s are unreliable. I'm just saying they consume a good bit of power (not sure how they compare to 360) unless they're the 45/40nm version.

We're in the middle of the peak oil crisis and you're worried about a PS3's power draw? Seriously? Your PC probably draws more power. If not then your TV almost certainly does. People these days.....

So assuming the PS3 does draw more power...you're saying he should stay away just so he can save a few cents every month on his power bill?

That's a pretty weak argument against the PS3 don't you think?

So my roommate now wants to just get the Killzone 3 bundle for $299. He wants that game anyway, and it's a new bundle so I assume the units are the newest ones. Where's the best place to get the bundle? Any deals like the Amazon $50 gift card?
