Buying a PCMCIA wireless card

Any suggestions? Maybe the D Link 650+ (2$!! used on ebay)?

My laptop is a compaq M700, PIII-700

Obviously range and stability are important.

Also, I am going to be running Linux (probably red hat) and Win2000, so full support on both of these OS'es would be helpful.

Looking in the price range of < $50 w/ rebates or deals if necessary.

Thanks for any recommendations,

Carl

Thanks does anybody have any experience with any specific cards from these manufacturers? good/bad?

For instance: a friend had a D Link 650Plus+ in 1 laptop and in another identical laptop he had a D Link 650. He took both laptops from his access point, down 3 flights of stairs and into his basement. The 650Plus+ card had a signal strength of 4 bars while the 650 card only had 1 bar.

Thanks again

Cisco: the best throughput out there when using WEP, better range than Orinoco cards which are only 30mw, Cisco cards are 100mw.The downside is they are expensive.

Orinoco: They are great for the price and function, rock solid units. Not as good throughput as a Cisco card when using WEP and the range isnt as good (30mw cards)

Symbol also makes some nice cards, but they are overpriced.
