Hey guys, im about to go purchase a watch for myself. There are some nice deals at the local mall. What type of watch do you guys think is nice enough to wear with a suit yet simple enough to wear everyday? (class/stuff with friends) Could you guys provide some links to watches you think do that? The watch i have my eye on is a Peugot(sp?) that has a silver border and black face with silver numbers. The strap is black leather.

What's your budget?

Watches are very personal items.

I love Guess watches. You can get em at your Macy's or at a Guess store.

for under a bill, it's probably going to be

Guess, Fossil, ESQ

I'd probably go for the ESQ as it's a bit less played out

think about what you NEED.

if all you need is just a watch, get a simple watch with the date on it.

if you like all the fancy mechanisms, perhaps a cheapie chronograph.

think about if you want a leather strap or links. i prefer watches with links because leather straps do tend to wear out. i like general watches that go with any outfit, but since you're a guy, you might not care.

Fossil & Guess have nice "dressy watch" selections. Without knowing what you look like and your fashion preferences, here are some girly suggestions:

Ok, so this has a little gold, but it's just for accent.

Plain but classy looking

Cross-between dress and casual watch

Wanna be square?

Another square chrono-looking watch

There we go :)

Arg, dont like any of the square ones. Is the type of strap actually a factor for weither its more formal or not?

I bought this watch a couple years back for something casual to wear. I'm not the type to spend alot on a watch, but I think this fit the bill perfectly at the time.

[edit]

One nice thing about that watch is the leather strap. Looks sharp, is comfortable, and has been extremely rugged. One thing to be aware of is that early models of this watch didn't have synchronized analog and digital timers, make sure it was manufactured after 2001.

Seiko 5 Automatic. Nice looking, fits your other requirements and best of all it has an accurate mechanical movement so you won't need to change batteries.
