Going to spend around $400.00 for a new video card and would like a little input before getting one. I play mostly online games but do some video work. Ripping DVD's and such about once a month. I am not a fan boy of either brand just buy the best I can get with the money I have to spend when I upgrade. In light of the recent problems. However not being a real "Techie" I dont know if it's problems will even affect me for what I do with the computer. Which all in all problably spends 75% -80% gaming.

Should I go with the X800Pro
or go with the 6800GT?

Thanks guys for any help you can offer.

Well, (gosh I must have said this 200 times in countless forums this week) if you have any know-how whatsoever and don't mind flashing a video card bios, you could pick a 6800LE (Limited Edition, from eVGA). Flash it to an Ultra bios and voila, 6800Ultra for $340~ instead of $550. Zipzoomfly is the only place you can find them atm.

ya zipzoomfly! i just ordered my card from them, but thats beside the point:
if you dont want to do any OCing, gameve.com has evga 6800gts for $399 right now (free shipping but on back order)... zipzoomfly.com has the same cards for $410 with free 2-day shipping and in stock

So your saying the 6800's problems wont affect or shouldn't affect my decision in what card I buy? And yes you are right, overclocking and modding the card is not an option :)

Thanks for the replies guys
