Buying a new laptop

Hey everyone!

I am going to University now and I need a laptop...

I'm thinking about an ASUS A6JC, here are the specs:

Intel Core Duo T2300
100Gb
1024Mb RAM
nVIDEA GeForceGo 7300 TurboCache 256Mb

Price: ?1399

I want this laptop mainly to do some programming and possible some games (not that much though)

What do you guys think?

Hi, welcome to AT.

I think 1GB ram is adequate. I don't think I've surpassed about 750MB in usage. The T2300 is a good CPU, and the 7300 sounds like it'd work for light gaming. Are you able to find better pricing though? 1399 euros sounds like a lot for what seems like a pretty standard 15.4" dual core notebook with specs tilted towards lots of ram and disk space.

I think it might be better to buy a notebook with less disk and ram if it's cheaper that way. These two components are the easiest (and not overly expensive) to upgrade aftermarket.

Also note that 15.4" = pretty big laptop. And make sure you have an idea towards battery life on this unit. Go check one out before deciding if you want something smaller or not.
