Yes, I am finally going to purchase my first home! I am on the wait list though. The prices of these homes have been jumping to no end!! I feel like I should just wait for the darn market to slow down and drop like the stock market but if I do, I might wait forever! Man, it suck to pay 25K more for the same house I could have gotten 3 months ago!!!! And this is only a 245K home! Ahhh well, if things do what they usually do, the house market should start dropping soon "after" I do the final paper work to my new home. :) Yes, I am to blame for the stocket market crash folks. Okay, just wanted to share my news with people. It's really really exciting... I can't wait to really own a house. Even though it's a really small house (~1400sqft), I should be okay being that I'll have it all to myself until my girl moves in w/ me the later.

I posted it before and I'll post it again, I hate oregon. Everytime I see a car with a Oregon license plate I give it the finger. Why? Well first when driving down I-5 you smell these weeds every once in a while. They actually kinda smell like pot. Second, there is no self-serve gas. You have to wait for them to come to you, pay the extra money, and I think your suppose to tip. Finally, there is nothing in oregon. A few places are kinda neat.. for like 30sec, and they have some neat rivers but nothing Washington doesn't have ;). Good things about Oregon are Mt. Bachelor (sp?) and no sales tax. (which they pay in a state income tax..

Here in Merced you can get a 2400 SQ FT House with on an Acre lot for $350 K or less. Of course it is a 2 hour commute to the Bay Area. Something like that would cost you over $500K in Santa Clara (if you could even find one)

I was looking for something in the mtn. view/santa clara area - Living in an 2bd/1bath apt. in mtn. view right now for $1750 and I'm loving the commute, can't live anything longer than 20mins. :)

20 minutes huh? You must live 5 miles from work:) I use to manage Property's in Santa Clara Valley for 10 years. If I had known that the rents were going to go up so high and that the people there would be foolish enough to pay them I would have stayed on and become rich .

Last year I was paying $2100 for the same place, rent hit it's highest 1-2 years ago, now it's coming back down. I wouldn't call it foolish either, we had to be 2hrs. early before the apt. office opened before we could even talk to the manager. These days, it's a lot better now, nevertheless, it's nearly impossible to get a house up here.

I only wish MORE people felt that way!!

All kinds of people are moving up here (all kinds of people from Cal. that is) and now our real-estate has gotten so over inflated that people like me that have lived here most of our lives can afford to buy a house!

What ever happend to those "Oregon Un-greeting cards" that they had up here in the 70's??

Yeah if you call living in a 2 bedroom apartment for $1750 a month in an area that's packed like lemmings looking for a cliff to run off a quality lifestyle. The Bay Area use to be an awesome place to live, probably the best in Ca. Not anymore. Ever since the Silicon Valley boom all the Yuppie Scum from out of state moved there look for "Silicon" gold driving up the cost of living and lowering the quality of life dramatically.

Thats amazing. For someone to be able to afford to get a loan on that, they'll have to make about $100K/yr. So I guess regular corporate drones won't be able to afford new houses in N.Cali ? And prices still goes up even with the employment meltdown in Silicon Valley ?

From his profile and the price per square foot, I'd say he is in Nevada City.
