Buying a new computer need GPU advice.

Currently i'm purchasing a new computer and the only part i'm stuck on is GPU's. First question is, is an ASUS PhysX 128mb physics card worth it? If it is then I'm only going to go with one other video card. If not I need 2 cards to run together. I'm looking at a 700-800 dollar total price range. I really haven't kept up with GPU's at all in the past few years so I am really in the dark.

Thank you.

1. In my opinion (I am sure others disagree) Physics cards are currently a waste. I personally see No real world improvement at all.

2. Graphics cards there are several options in your price range. Personally I just put togeather a conroe rig & put 1 XFX NVIDIA 7950x2 video card in it. This is a single Card SLI solution that is cheaper than the top of the line SLI cards.

For your budget I would reccomend the 7950 & you could save $200 -$300 for whatever.

If you are stuck on 2 cards
This:
Sapphire Radeon X1900XTX 512MB

or This:
XFX GeForce 7900GT 512mb
Depending on if you like Red flavor or Green Flavor better.

Remember if you decide to go Crossfire, or SLI, that you need to chose a motherboard that supports it. Also if you go Crossfire, you need to make sure one of the cards is a "Crossfire Edition" master card.

dx10 parts are coming out soon..so why spend so much money on obsolete stuff?

i am going to get an x 800 xl ati vid card for 130$ (cdn) it is a throw away card at that price. 🙂 This card will run any current game well enough (unless you have a high native resolution on an lcd screen)
