Your thoughts on a new car w/400 miles on it? (it's only 1 month old, according to build date.)

exactly...its a demo or they have that fancy term which doesnt come to mind right now

Many cars have to be driven from one dealership to the next by an employee.
400 miles is quite a bit and bordering on the amount of mileage they would use for a cutoff to use a transport truck instead.

there was 1 mile on my car when i took it home, and it was the test drive mile that i drove prior to buying it. w00t. the car had just come into the dealer, and i was the first and only person to drive it. i rock! :)

in other news however, my dad ordered a nissan xterra a few years back, and instead of transporting it on a truck, they drove it to the dealership he was buying it from. but on a good 200 miles, he refused to buy it.

They drive cars to and from locations all the time, a relative of mine does that now that he's retired.

What happens in alot of cases is that a salesman will drive the car for a month or so. That's probably what happened.

Cars often have a short test drive after they are manufactured.
The only new car that I've ever owned had 70 miles on it when I bought it.

If the car has never been registered, it is called new.
That car is a demo, one of the employees probably was driving it home or took it to a meeting and or training class.
EDIT
It wouldn't keep me from buying it but they'd have to make some kind of concession. Lower price, first service free, etc.

If it's a demo or manager's car they should give you a "mileage allowance". Specifically ask for that. It won't be much, maybe a $100 or 2, but it's something.
