Call Comcast and order one for $10/mo?

It shouldn't work unless you order and pay for the DVR service.

Even if you owned/purchased the HD DVR you still need to pay for the service, right?

So why buy a $100-$200 HD DVR when you can get one for FREE with $10/mo rental? Also if you get it from Comcast, if it breaks they replace it. If you own it, you have to get it repaired and pay for it out of pocket.

If there were no monthly fees and you had full funtionality then I would understand buying a DVR. I just don't see the benefits?

the reason i want to buy it is b/c the one they give is a gimp version. the AV ports on the front and back to not work as in i can not plug my PS2/XBOX into the DVR as the ports are deactivated. The Remote they give you may work fully but with the gimpness they flash the chips of it with i can't get it to work to my standards.

So you're willing to spend a couple of hundred dollars so you can plug your PS2 or XBOX into the front of your DVR? Why not just plug them straight into your TV?

And what features in the remote did they remove? You keep on saying the gimped it, but haven't provided a clear example yet. What exactly are you trying to get the remote to do that it won't?
