buying a motorcycle

The motorcycle is a 2002 model but it only cost 2900. I think it is mainly cause it has a salvage title, a few scratches in the fairings and a couple of dents in the gas tank. Has anyone had experiences with buying a motorcycle and whether or not I should get one with a salvage title?

I'd be wary of a salvage title for anything, be it a car or a motorbike. Specially a bike since if something goes wrong at 70mph on the freeway - you are so SOL.
