Buying a mobo today

Well After being pissed off about a bunch of little problems that didn't seem to have solutions on my chaintech znf3-150 I rmad it. Newegg sent the new mobo to a wrong address so my receiving it has been delayed about two months. I've decided to buy a new mobo. Chaintechs out of the question. I was thinking of getting an Asus k8n-e, but I want some opinions/recommendations before I do.

i was goona say the chaintech nforce3. anandtech rated it very highly, and i can tell you from personal use that it is an outstanding board. but if you wanna play the "i had 1 bad product from a company, so i will never order from them again" game, then i suggest the epox nforce3 board.

No replies from there support, aside from an autoreply saying support would come, also strongly affected my opinion not just a one bad product thing.

I love my new Asus K8N-E
it is very nice and an overwhelming array of features..
6 SATA connects 8.1 sound.. Onboard SATA RAID.. gigabyte ethernet
firewire.. and way more.. this is the Nforce3 chipset with working PCI/AGP locks...
board is awesome..

So that's 3 for k8n-3 and 2 for epox. I read a review on the epox it didn't seem spectacular. I can't find any reviews of the k8n-3 though : (

I'm using the Epox K8DAJ+ right now, and its a great mobo, but if you like SATA drives, you better get one with the optional SATA controller (without it, you only get 2 SATA ports, with, you get 6). I regret not getting it. Also, it doenst have a swappable northbridge heatsink.

You might be better off with the Neo Platinum they have been raving about, too. Check both out.

It was a digital daily review that I read. Only significant con they had was non function cool and quiet, but they didn't convince me it was a king of boards.

I think Epox has been one of the best and most consitent MB manufacturers. They also offer lower cost versions of most chipsets with good build quality by dropping extraneous features many people don't need. They also have a fantastic website for a motherboard manufacturer.

I would suggest maybe the new ASUS nF3 250 Gb board. I don't know how well it'll perform, but it should be great. I ordered one just last night, so I can't comment yet.

I was going to get the Epox 250 Gb board thats under $100 but decided I liked the ASUS' features better, as well as its appearance (I know, not a reason to buy a mobo, but eh). Too bad you can't choose what color of reference board you get.

I went with the Asus k8n-e. Now I'm looking at getting a new video card (old card also sent to the wrong address >.< FU newegg rma services)

Chaintech NF3 250, $88. CnQ support.
Gigabyte has a nice NF3 250 for $119, with extra gadgets, too; no CnQ.

Something w/ an nForce3 250 for sure. I got the via KT800 and not that it is bad, but I wish I had gotten a nforce3 250. But at the time it was pretty much the 150 vs KT800 and the Kt800 was better. Oh well. Get the nForce3 250 on a good brand board and you'll be happy.

i enjoy my Asus K8V SE Deluxe-Cool N Quiet, firewire, opitical/digtal coax, 5.1, gigabyte ethernet. It should be around $110, and make sure you know how to install the SATA drivers-I didn't.
