Buying a laptop

I am looking to purchase a new laptop but need some advice. I know the Centrino Pentium M has practically replaced the regular Pentium IV for notebooks.

My question is how does a Pentium M compare in performance to the Pentium IV?

I am interested in 1.8GHz - 2.0GHz range with 1GB memory.

Also, been looking at Dell or Sony. What do you say? What's the cheapest place to buy a new laptop (if not Dell direct)?

Anyone use wireless broadband with Verizon on their notebook? I am interested in that too but was looking for opinions and experience with such. I am based in NY

The performance is good. I'd go IBM.

Play with the keyboards though. Laptop keyboards can be horrible. I played with a couple that only children could really use. 😕
