It's not just some random guy, he is my boss so I trust him. He has a 50cc Suzuki atv his kid outgrew. I am wanting to buy it a flip it on craigslist. He does not know where the title is though. Is it worth the hassle?

If you're hesitant about buying it from a guy that you know and trust, do you honestly think a stranger will buy it from you? Flipping a 50cc ATV can't possibly net you much cash anyway.

Here it would not be, it almost impossible to title something with just a bill of sale. The DMV, or tax commision in this case, makers you jump through more than a few hoops to be able to do it.

Without a title you have to do what is known here is a Title 42

Do your research.

It varies by state, but in Pennsylvania its very costly, upwards of $300 to have an ATV or motorcycle re-titled.
I looked at dozens of cheap ATVs, and the ones without titles were always less. But being unable to ride on state lands was a dealbreaker for me, so I paid the extra $$ and got an ATV with a title.

he should be able to get a duplicate title from the dmv or county clerk. In Wyoming you can go ask for another title, they just check your ID and then you have to wait 11 days and they print you a new one. it costs 10 bucks. our county clerk handles vehicle titles

They have titles? I had no idea. My brother-in-law gave my sons 90cc ATVs and to my knowledge, there's no title for them.

If there is such a thing as a title then the state has record of it. I would think your boss could go down to the sec. of state/DMV and have the state resend a new title. It couldn't cost much. People lose titles all the time. Tell them the dog ate it.

I decided to buy it and went ahead and posted a craigslist ad for it. On my way to pick it up I had multiple people calling it and wanting it. Before I even got back in town I meet up with a guy and made a 200 profit, he didn't even ask for the title.
