Spent the afternoon looking at some land within a development. They had a couple of lots "released for building". 3 months ago the same house on a similar lot was 50K less and today they refused to build a "cheaper" house (3300 sq. ft. vs 3600) on that lot. Without getting into numbers we are talking high six figures. Greedy bastards. It has become a deal breaker for me on principle. I hope they choke on their greed.

The whole market is so hot here, I can't get a fair price for construction on my lot.

I know the pain TRP

Try selling one house and buying a new one at the same time. White knuckle ride all the way....

There is a reason "Buying a home" is listed as one of the most stressful things you can go through in a year.... it is up there with divorce and death in the family!

All I can tell you is that you can get a lot of house down here for the money you are talking about.... Cost of living is MUCH lower.

Take deep breaths.... breathe in.... breathe out... breathe in... breathe out... repeat!

My sympathies.

Haven't bought a house, but watched my mom buy/sell last year. She picked out her new house, actually a ranch condo, put down a deposit on it since it was being built for her. Put the old house on the market telling the realtor that she would be out in six months. They didn't have time to put a for sale sign out front before there was a contract on the house.

She paid cash for the new place. Only headache was that the unit she wanted wouldn't be ready in time so she had to get one that is on the pond in the development (about $10000 more). She cut a deal with the developer to pay half that and moved in right on time.

I'd say it wouldn't get any better than that. My parents always had pretty good luck selling their houses. They sold another one in the early 80s that was on the market for 2 days before selling.

I can only hope my home buying experiences are as easy as theirs.

"High six figures", like close to a million! Yeah, you'll get a lot of sympathy from me, hah!

Look, if you just have to live in that particular spot, you've given them a license to call all the shots. You really must live right there?
