Benefits of a digital camera are that:
- you can view your photos easily with a simple connection to your computer;
- you can share photos easily, as they can be easily attached to any email or photo directory such as Picasa.
- you dont have to buy any film as photos are stored on resuable memory and unwanted shots can be easily deleted.
Things to consider before you buy a digital camera:
1. Type of photographer you are
Most newer digital cams offer 3 or more megapixels of resolution. If you are mainly taking family snapshots or vacation photos, this will be more than enough. However, if you plan to blow up your photos to 8? x 10? or larger, you will require higher megapixels to address the details of a blown up photo.
2. Viewfinder
A good digital camera will have both an optical viewfinder and a LCD screen.
3. Rechargeable is the way to go
Many cameras use four AA batteries, which can quickly run down. Go for cameras that offer rechargeable batteries.
4. Zooming towards your target
Go for a digital camera which has solid optical zoom lens as opposed to digital zoom. Optical zoom is preferred as the image is not distorted.
5. Digital memory, more the merrier
Photos are stored on small, removable memory cards, and most digital cameras come with a ?starter? card having 8 or 16 MB of storage. Now, you can get 1GB or 2GB flash memory cards at very reasonable prices.
6. Other considerations
a. Feel it in your own hands and run your fingers through the various buttons to find out how comfortarble you are with the camera. Each individual will have his or her own preference.
b. For someone more experience, you may consider having more manual settings on your camera.
c. Try to get a camera with solid manual optical zoom lens, as digital zoom will result in ?grainy? quality pictures..
d. Finally, buy a camera which fits your pocket as well as your needs. You dont need anything more than that!
