Buying a dell...how much memory?

Hi,

I'm buying a new DELL computer. The computer is to run a wide range of business applications (OUTLOOK, EXCEL, WORD) and do some quantitiative analysis (MATLAB).
The main thing I do is run lots of applicaitons at a time, and I want to be able to quickly switch around from application to application without too much lag.

I don't know how much RAM I should buy. Money is not an issue, i.e. I'll spend whatever I need to in order to improve performance. But I don't want to waste any money. Can you guys give me any advice about which one of the choices below I should choose? Are these choices ok?

I would say a gig is probably good, get the 533mhz stuff, it's only like $20 more. ECC gives you more stability, but it's slightly slower.

4GB and you should be set.

Actually 1Gig may be a little low if you have a lot of Windows open concurrently (and a lot of programs running) but 1gig or 2gig is the way to go I think.
