Buying a Compass

The last compass I buy was messed up. It was $3.00 from Walmart, so I didn't expect much.

I want to get a compass that I can use reliably when driving. Since I drive often to other cities, it would really help if I can determine the direction I'm going. What's a good one, with affordable price (I dunno, $20 maybe?), and where can I buy it?

Radio Shack had some cool ass blinky electric compass thingy that plugged into the cig lighter and sat on the dash. Albeit it was more than $20. Looks like some kinda whacked out fish finder/depth thing for a boat.
