Should I go with Internal or should I go with external (some are cheaper then internals, some are not -some are USB others are SCSI - They Are FASTER - Should I go for it?

I *CAN* live with Write X2, Re-Write X2, Read-...Whatever...
Although I will prefer fast drive for better *Quality*...

Maybe I should spend as little as possible for something that I "rarely" use (and you have :) and soon moty will bring to school - But this thing is nice to have around ...isn't it?

Any tips or advice about the standards, features, CDR programs, things to look for, reviews, recommendations, sites - and etc'.... Are most Welcomed. - THANKS !

What is your price range?

If youc an spend it, $190 ish for a Plextor 8/4/32, or $260ish for a Plextor 12/10/32A

I would not mess with a external usb cdrw. I have heard more bad reports than successful ones using a usb drive and you have to deal with the slow speed of 2/4/6 that the usb models are limated too.

Plextor if money is not a issue, HP if money is a issue. Hp is a Sony clone with a different software package. Plextor drives are excellent and Hp drives are good if you get a good one, There are still some quality control issues that have to be addressed With Sony and HP. Also having the ability to read and write raw data should be a requirment if you plan to make copies of software that you own.

Rain:

What do you mean by "Raw Data" - aren't all CD-R/W support this? - excuse my ignorance - I am new to this...

No only a few models support raw reads and writes in their firmware. Its a requirment if you want to try to copy cd's that have some sort of copy protection written in the program. You can get more info here at http://www.cdmediaworld.com on burners that have raw reads and writes enabled in the firmware.
