So I found a really good deal on this VW, but its several hundred miles away. To be honest, I am a little worried. The seller offered to pick me up the air port and drive me to his house so I could get the car.

The deal seems to good to be true.

I am wondering if the seller is some kind of serial killer that lures people to his house under the disguise of selling a car for a really good price?

I can just see it now, he picks me up at the airport, we get to the house, he invites me in, offers a drink. A few minutes after drinking something I start to feel light headed, when the wife steps around the corner with a butchers cleaver.

Maybe I should bring a friend? But that would be a 2 for the price of 1 special for the serial killer.

What do?

If you are that concerned for your safety, forget about the car. Or, drive there with 3 friends. That way after you buy the car, you can have one friend ride with you on the way home and the other 2 friends will be in the car that you drove when you went to pick up the VW. I know you said it was several hundred miles away, but if it is that good of a deal it would be worth the extra expense.

I love parody threads !

If you were being serious though, I'd tell you to be careful especially on craigslist. I have heard a 2nd hand horror story ( guy that works w\ close relative ) who is now disabled after a craigslist car sale / robbery attempt gone wrong. He brought cash, they brought guns, they shot when he drove off.

It's baffling to me that you would bring cash and not guns. When I've sold\bought cars for cash, I'm carrying a gun, and I have a friend with a rifle discretely located nearby. Do people think someone won't kill you for $10,000 in cash?
