Camera:

Ordering a camera today (it's for my girlfriend, she wants the dualview, i understand it's not the best in its class).

The specs on the Samsung site say it can handle up to a 8GB SDHC card. I started looking on Amazon and found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-micr...dp/B0026L7DG0/

Would this work alright? It was the highest speed (class 6) 8GB microSDHC card I could find. However, all the reviews seem to mention phones/nintendo etc, not many reviews for cameras. Should this card function well/correctly in a camera?

I usually buy Sandisk cards so I'm not sure about Transcend, but the fastest Sandisk have in an 8GB microSDHC is class 2. Will the increased speed of the card make a difference in a camera like this, or is the speed increase useless? Can the camera even write at class 6 speeds?

Feel free to toss in any card recommendations. I've never ordered a SDHC before.

Thanks.

I've used Transcend before with no issues. As far as the speed goes, it's hard to say for sure but I think you'd be fine with a class 2 card if you decide to go that direction. I checked out the specs and the camera's burst (continuous) mode does not record images at full resolution, so write speed won't be an issue there. The only possible problem could be with video recording, but AFAIK that won't be an issue either. So the primary advantage of going with the faster card would be transferring pictures to the computer; I don't think you'd see any difference in every day use.

Thanks, I ordered the Transcend. All the prices were around $20, so there was no savings with going with a slower speed card. I was more concerned with the brand because I hadn't heard of them.

Thanks.

No problem. Most of Transcend's products have solid reviews on Newegg so it should work well for you.

are microSD cards the same price as regular SD?
