Buying a Athlon XP 2800+ .. hows the heatsink?

Im building a computer for a friend and I'm sticking a XP 2800 Processor in it. Does anybody know how good the retail heatsink's that come with it are? And the thermal pad? Im trying to get the most bang for buck and keep the computer under $1000 so I dont want to buy a fan if this one will work.

The computer will not be overclocked and its not going to be put under any CPU intensive processing. Its going to a noob who might or might not be able to figure out how to turn it on

get a used barton for best bang for the buck

retail heatsinks are good for stock speeds.

I have a retail 2500+. The h/s is ok as long as you stay a clock speed.

every AMD retail heatsink is different,but a friend of mine lapped his and it turned out to be copper and was coated with nickle(i think). it was actually pretty damn good.

I upgraded my fan to Coolermaster Aero along with the CPU. I'd get an OEM CPU and get an Aero Lite or Aero+ (solid copper version of Aero Lite) if it's only a few bucks more.

This fan is whisper quiet and gives adequate cooling when used on lowest setting. Much quieter than the stock fan that came with my old retail Athlon. Quiet fan is something one will definitely appreciate in my opinion.
