Just as I stated im buying a new gaming Pc. I want it to be better then my current gaming pc.

Motherboard Evga 780 ftw version http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813188027

Video card xfx 280 x2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814150309

Proccesor q9550 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16819115041

Hardrive. Intel x25-m Hopefully the 160 gig if its out. Otherwise the 80 for my Operating system. http://hothardware.com/Article...-Ups-The-Ante/?page=10

2x 300g velociraptor http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16822136260

Powersupply Silverstone st1200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817256041

Liquid cooling kits swiftech http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835108076

Ok The only thing im not ready to choose is my ram. The motherboard states 1200 capable but im confused on that. I dont want any help on that subject here only because I have another forum post on it already.

I will be purchasing the equipment in 2 weeks. I am getting a huge settlement check and I want to ahve the bese pc in my community. So if there are anything else I can purchase to make this computer better then waht I have here please let me know.
This is 100 percent serious. Look at the comment for my last gaming pc. I am the type of guy that I am never satisfed with what I have so I strive for more.

I know theres goin to be some jerk thats goin to come on and call me an idiot for buying all this expensive equipment. Your comments will be ignored by me. Otherwise I would really appreciate anyone elses help. What will make this setup better. Withough getting into a 2k proccessor lol.

I use for gaming, dvd burning, downloading, Winrar, quickpar. So on so forth. I want to also get into gaming design as hoppy. I already have the software for that.

Also If needed in the future I would love to 3x sli the 280 Figure it would only be an extra 400. Im not sure if you can 3x sli the 280 Though because they are already dual core video cards.

Edit: what the heck is scsi Drives and are the better then velo hdd or ssd drives? I see the ultra 640 MB/s and the ultra 320 MB/s

Sorry I keep editing this but I am getting a bit confused. I keep looking at the differences between ssd vs scsi ultra and there seems to be a huge performance diffence in the direction ofthe scsi.

SCSI is a data interface commonly used in servers. The drives themselves typically are built to run non-stop for 5+ years, have very fast seek times, often run 15000rpm, and have low capacity for the dollar. I like 15000rpm SCSI a lot, but for most people, the high capacity and low noise level of home-user drives is a better tradeoff.

By the way, this thread would work out better in General Hardware. Would you like me to move it over there so it gets better response? If so, then look for it over in GH :)

Yes please go ahead and move it. Taking the noise out of the picture will an ultra 320 scsi be faster then an intel ssd x25 drive. I want best of the best. and dollar wise I will get more space per buck out of the scsi. Plus the write speed on the ssd sucks where the scsi I think si way faster

Edit: Im sorry ok is the scsi faster tehn velo or ssd. I know the ssd is faster tehn velo. Im just trying to get my best options out fo the way. I will post pictures when I get the stuff in mail.

Ok up top I said I wanted best of the best and I had a different forum post about ram. Well in that post they mentioned something about a new proccessor intel has coming out.

they stated And seriously, if you want the 'best of the best' you need to wait for Nehalem to launch. Your system will be obsolete in like a month.

I would have just responded there but this post has more to do with best of the best. So my question is will the new intel proccesor go into a 780i board or will it be a different kind of connection. I tried looking it up but I couldnt find anything for sure. So it comes down to 2 questions

1. Will it work with the 780I
2. Is it worth waiting for.

Sorry I should have posted this yesterday. I have read up on it and since its coming in like a month Im goin to get it. Its goin to be sick expensive but I Dont care its goin to be hella good. So the pc that I took all that time to build is worthless. To an extent but thats ok. All I have to figure out now is my HDD situation. Its posted in another forum but the jist of it is. I cant figure out what is better based on what everyone told me I know that

Sdd is way better then velo which is way better then stander sata drives

But what if you throw in an Ultra scsi320. It states it can sustain speeds up 320 MBs which is faster the the new intel x25

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...erthread=y&STARTPAGE=2 This is the actual forum post if your a pro in hdd please jump on over and help me out. I guess it comes down to one question are any of the scsi drives better tehn the intel x25 if so what are they and what do I need to hook them up.

Thank you very much for you post it is much appreciated. Im a nub with cash to burn but I hate spending money on stuff thats way out dated. A little outdated is ok lol.

You allready have a 4.0ghz quadcore and sli-ed gtx280's? What games don't allready run flawless at 2560*1600?

If you're just buying for shits and giggles, yes, wait for nehalem, get a 940, and oc it to 4.0ghz, make sure you watercool it, and perhaps you can do 4.4ghz. X58 can do both sli and crossfire, so tripple sli with gtx280 is possible. You'll have to buy 3x2gb of ddr3 ram as well.

Why settle for i7 940 when you can get the i7 965 EE with the unlocked multiplier?

Run an X58 motherboard with 3xGTX280 in triSLI mode.

Go for that with three 4GB RAM kits (2x2GB DDR3-1600) for 12GB in triple channel performance mode.

Set up your OS on an Intel X25M SSD and use 300GB Velociraptors for storage.

And get three 22" LCD monitors to run with the Matrox Triple Head 2 Go (info) with a resolution of 5040x1050.

Ty for the comments. I am waiting for Nehalem. The prolem that I have now is that When I run quickpar or winrar It takes forever. I want a faster HD and I want to look at all the options. In that Link I put up there they went over all the situation for me except the scsi. I have read and it states taht it runs at about 320MBs which is faster then the Intel x25. But im not sure if im looking at it right.
So is the scsi ultra 320 faster then the sdd drive.
And
What are the differences of the scsi Type of drives if it is faster then sdd

* How much cash do you have to throw at your storage subsystem?
* Are you prepared to scrap your nVidia MB in favor of an Intel based board, to get 64bit PCI slots?

PCI Express 1x is fine for you?
If so, you don't need to worry about SCSI drives at all.

The claimed "up to 320MBs" rate for the card is misleading. Since PCI Express 1x has a single direction limit of 250MBs (500MBs if both directions are taken into account).
The SCSI specification is "up to 320MBs", single direction.

Think of it as trying to push 320 gallons of water through a pipe that's limited to 250.

My advice is to forget about the SCSI dreams of flat-out speed unless you go with a server MB supporting a 64-bit bus.
Otherwise a VelociRaptor is your best balance of high-end price/performance/capacity.

What about all the new motherboards coming with scsi connections being standard. The bulk of them all have at least 2. Would it be worth it if I purchased one of those. This will be my last question lol I promise. And ounce again ty for all your help

Probably not related to the performance level of the PC itself but with the super expensive hardware you're throwing in, make sure you upgrade your optical drive to a Blu-Ray burner. Or at the least something that can read Blu-Ray movies.

* Are you talking about socket 771, 775 or some other socketed motherboards?
* Do you have any links to these onboard SCSI MBs?

after I posted this thread I found out about the new mobo and proccessor coming out. I stated at that point taht I would get the new one instead of the one I posted. Its in one of these post. The only thing that I need to know is where do scsi stand with other hard drives.

ty that post was very informative. It did tell me aloat about ultra scsi

But the question is still out there. Where does ultra 320 scsi and scsi drives fall for performance wise with fastest drives

So far I have been given the info

Intel x25-(m or e) <--- Velo Raptor Drive in raid or single <--- Sata drive riad or single <---Ide drive.

So Where does ultra 320 scsi fall. I read that you can get sppeds up to 320 MBs the intel drive only hits 250 MBs so tech I think that the ultra would be better performance. But if im wrong I want someone to tell me. So if anyone has a comparision chart or benchmarkings to show I would really appreciate it. or if they just know what kinda speed it is I would appreciate it ty very much

The Ultra 320 scsi card that Im looking at is

http://www.buy.com/prod/adapte...loc/101/204219619.html it works with pci express x1 at 320 MBs

The drive that im lookin at is

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16822116064 With this drive.

I think that would mean that I would get a total of 320 MBs transfer rate which is 70 MB faster then the intel Drive and also it would be cheaper
