Would this be a worthwhile investment for watching movies & pc/console gaming? Id like to buy something nice, but it's also going to be used.

However, seeing as its a 1900x1280 resolution I dont know how well it will work as a monitor (I think Ill just keep my little one... or not) and how good of a video card I will need to get the thing to work.

Thanks for advice in advance.

FYI: 1080p = 1920x1080
While computer displays today consist of 1920x1200, 1920x1080 and (mostly) 1680x1050 panels.
(only taking newest widescreen 24"+ & excluding the super expensive 2560x display for CAD/CAM)
Almost all Plasma and LCD HDTV have this resolution when they support 1080p (or Full-HD).
All work pretty well as PC Monitor

As for gaming on 1080p resolution;
You'd be better off sticking with an Xbox 360 or a PS3 (I've a 360).
I tried using my 3yrs old 2.5GHz dual cores and 7800GT and it did it poorly.
Depending on the game, I think you'd need at least 3G Dual core and 8800GT+ (I'm about to find out as I'll receive my E8400 this week)

And of course, you get to watch HDTV contents (ie: football, animals, commercials, etc all in 720p/1080i glory)

All and all, I'd say it's worth it.
I was waiting on the fence for a couple of years when I finally jumped in 1.5yrs ago and bought a 42" 1080p LCD TV.
Other than the fact that I'm green with envy with today's TV (i.e.: LED-backlit LCD TV with 120Hz motion compensation), but that's the nature of technology.

of course it did poorly, its 3 years old... get a modern machine with an 8800GT/HD3870 with 512MB of ram for that resolution (the 8800GT/HD3850 with 256MB of ram suffers at 1920x1200 resolution, they are much slower then the 512MB version at 1920x1200 res).

Anyways the standard for a 24inch monitor is 1920x1200... 1080p resolution = 1920x1080.

I love PC gaming on my 42" 1080p LCD HDTV. Does just fine with my Q6600 @ stock (for the moment) and 8800GT.
