Sony E540 or G520

Edit: Oops, G520 is $800 :D Go with E540, can't beat Sony's Apeture Grille monitors

I've had my E540/B for about 3 months and it still continues to amaze me! If the "guide wire" issue doesn't bother you, it's without a doubt the best 21" value available! A Samsung 21" would be a close second.

I have an NEC 22 inch monitor, last years model, and I love it. Best monitor I've ever seen. Uses Mitsubishi Diamondtron tube, perfect geometry, great colors, no image defects at all. NEC is GREAT!

SAME here. I've got a NEC/Mitsu FE1250+ Black 22" that rocks. It's the only monitor I've seen that looks better than my 19" Sony.

A quick note tho: The 22's are not really any bigger than the 21's but they tend to hold their focus at the edges of the screen better.

bagaki: Here's the response from the Sony FAQ website
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Description:
There Is A Thin Gray Line In Either The Top Or Bottom Section Of A Sony Trinitron Monitor.

Solution:
There is nothing wrong with the monitor, the thin line(s) is normal. The thin line is a shadow cast by the horizontal Aperture Grille Damper wire. The damper wire is used to stabilize the Aperture Grille, which is featured on all Sony Trinitron picture tubes.

The number of damper wires vary according to the size of the monitor. For example, 15" monitors only have one thin line while the 17" and 20" monitors have two thin lines.

Through the adjustment of the brightness and contrast on the monitor, the line(s) may appear less noticeable.

There is a mention of the horizontal Aperture Grille Damper wire in the Sony User's Guide which came with the monitor.

The ONLY time I notice them is when I've opened a new Word document.
