don't want to mess with internet deals. simply put what is the best CRT 19" monitor I can buy for games.

stipulation is best buy, circuit city.

I went the other day to look at monitors and they have like only two CRT monitors.

Well if its between those two stores, I think most here will suggest the Samsung, I think the model is 997df. Do you have a compusa around you? I know they have a Viewsonic A90F+, Iv had no problems with my A90F other then I wish it could do 85hz at 1280x1024 and 75hz at 1600x1200

997df-i've got mine at 1024x768 @100Hz-very clear. I took a look at a friends dell 1801fp, and for less than 200 bucks, this monitor is great. Obviously it won't look as amazing as a 600 buck lcd, but duh!

I bought the A90F+ from BBY and I wasn't impressed with it. The "Ultrabright" mode makes text blurry during normal use, but does make games/movies look really nice. Also, at 1600x1200 @ 60Hz (max it can do @ that res is 65Hz) the text can be kind of fuzzy. I got the service plan on it and I think I'm going to have them replace it with a 997DF. Also, the 997DF is a lot smaller in terms of bulk. Less bezel and overall space than the A90F+, which is a hoss. Lastly, my A90F+ has a loose power connector and so if the data cable gets yanked on, I have to jimmy the power cable to get it to work. BTW, I think the service plan is only like $30 or $50 on either of these monitors. Get it, if anything happens to it for 3 years short of you throwing it down the stairs; they'll replace it straight up.

Here's another vote for the Samsung. I got a Samsung 900DF a few months ago for $200 at Sam's Club. It replaced my 6-year old Viewsonic 19" monitor and the picture is excellent.
