Buyers remorse anyone?

I just bought new components for a hardcore gaming system...

Shuttle SN41G2 (haven't bought this yet, waiting for it to get in stock)
Maxtor 20GB ATA133 HD (133MB/sec baby!)
FIC Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB
Crucial 512MB PC2700
Athlon XP2400

Grand total (after the shuttle I will soon purchase) $1,170

I'm seriously having buyers remorse, Rossman where are you! 🙁

Buyer's remorse is a bitch.

I have purchased (and subsequently returned/sold within a week):

Laptop
2 LCD's
U160 SCSI controller
Seagate X15
P4 2.53

Etc, etc, etc.

Viper GTS

Rule no.1 : don't buy anything or you're going to have a buyer's remorse. At least I regret almost everything I buy. Heck, everything is so overpriced it's not even funny. It's a sheer highway robbery.

Maxtor 20 gig??? I hope you got a good deal on that. Most 80 gig UDMA/100 drives will outperform that Maxtor. (So far, only extremely high performance drives can take advantage of anything greater than UDMA/100. The highest performance drives tend to be the largest drives.)

That's all....

Fear of buyer's remorse is keeping me from buying a Samsung 191T 19" LCD, especially since a nice 19" CRT is about $500 less.

Well it was the only ATA133 drive I could find, and I wanted something fast, and relatively cheap because it's solely a gaming machine.

I agree, ATA133 is like putting a coaxial cable into a 56k modem, I would IMHO...buy two 20-40gb ATA 66 or ATA 100 and run them in RAID for real speed.

133 is fluff. Unless it's recent hardware that I'm not aware of, your not going to be able to take advantage of 133. Last I checked the price diff, between 20-60GB HD's is chump change. A fast 7200rpm drive will be just as good or better than 133. Looks like Maxtor snagged you with there scheme. 😉

It is 7200 RPM, and I'm not using my only PCI slot in my SN41G2 for a RAID card.

Funny, ALL of the reports and benchmarks I have read (a whole 4 of them) have shown substantial speed increases from ata 100 to ata133.

Buyer's remorse happens when you buy something you don't need, pay way too much, or buy at what you perceive might be the wrong time.

I haven't had this feeling in a long time because I'm aware of the above and go out of my way to prevent remorse! 🙂

Anyone who frequents the hot deals forum knows not of this "buyer's remorse" of which you speak 😀

You're not going to get anywhere close to 133MB/s.

hahah, ATA/133 hype sucked someone in again.. 😛
the 8MB cache WD SE drives perform alot better and are only ATA/100.

as the others have said, ATA/133 is too advanced for current hardware to utilize...

Eh. You could spend 50% less and get 90% of the performance.

But that's just me.

<---- doesn't buy top-o-dee-line because it's a waste of money.
