I know that some of you may be offended by my bantering, and others will say that this is the wrong place to post what I am about to post, however I am only doing this in the best interest of Anandtech consumers. Flames are expected, so you're just wasting your time if you do.
I recently (2/12) attempted to purchase a Matrox G450 Dual Head from mwave.com, and I used an American Express Blue card. I received an e-mail from them a little after I had made the order:
Dear Dong Tran:
In regards to the above mentioned invoice, we would like to inform you that unfortunately we are unable to process your order at this time. In order to ship to an address other than your billing address, we do require an authorization, as mentioned on our website. The quickest method would be to contact your credit card company, and request them to "add your shipping address as an authorized shipping address to your account". When this is done successfully, please contact Multiwave asap to continue the processing of your order. You may e-mail us at richards@mwave.com for your convenience. Or you may fax your authorization to 626-912-9495 with a copy of the front and back of your credit card, license, and signature authorizing Multiwave to ship to your shipping address. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
That's wierd, I already added my shipping address as an authorized shipping address to my account. I've made many successful purchases with the same shipping/billing addresses with the same credit card even with Staples with no problems.
Now I asked Mr. Richard Shen at mwave.com if I could use a different credit card, and he said no problem. He game me a phone number to call, 800-466-8558, but I got no answer for every time of the 3 times I've called.
It has been three days since the e-mail was sent from mwave.com. I was checking out my account on the American Express website and what do I check my recent charges and what do I see? A charge from mwave.com for the amount of the purchase.
Now what gets me is that they charged me for my purchase with American Express, didn't ship my item, wanted me to call American Express to authorize a shipping address of which has already been authorized or wanted me to pay again with another credit card, told me that my credit card authorization didn't go through, and didn't tell me that they charged my credit card? Now that's customer service... Anyways, I don't think the deal that I jumped on matters because it wouldn't have been shipped anyway, but because of their poor service and the fact that their trying to rape me, I'd have to give mwave.com a cold rating.
